UNGUIDED MEDIA: WIRELESS

Unguided media transport electromagnetic waves without using a physical conductor. This type of communication is

often referred to as wireless communication.

CIRCUIT-SWITCHED NETWORKS

A circuit-switched network consists of a set of switches connected by physical links. A connection between two

stations is a dedicated path made of one or more links. However, each connection uses only one dedicated channel on

each link. Each link is normally divided into n channels by using FDM or TDM.

ncy in resource allocation while satisfying the quality of service requirement of the multimedia connection. To exploit RCPT, we present and evaluate a novel dynamic resource allocation method that decomposes the available radio resources into multiple sets of links with different levels of reliability. We mathematically formulate a rate control problem for the flexible RCPT scheme and develop an efficient real-time resource allocation algorithm with a remarkably fast rate of convergence. Simulation results show that the proposed method improves the utility and reduces the power consumed for d..................[:=> Show Contents <=:]

The distance between the coils was varied to observe the effects on coupling due to coil distance but would eventually be set around six feet to simulate the distance between a tabletop and ceiling. A value of 100 turns was chosen because it was a large value, but not large enough to start contributing too much unwanted factors from series resistance and winding capacitance. The diameter was set to 1 meter because it is large value but not too unreasonable of a size for a pad on or under a desk. The actual expected frequency can be calculated by finding the capacitance w..................[:=> Show Contents <=:]

Instead of using common retransmission query protocols, we aim to reconstruct the lost data using correlation between the lost block and its neighbors. If the lost block contained structure, it is reconstructed using an image in painting algorithm, while texture synthesis is used for the textured blocks. The switch between the two schemes is done in a fully automatic fashion based on the surrounding available blocks. The performance of this metho..................[:=> Show Contents <=:]

However this model should be perceived as a first step toward predicting the radio coverage in ducts when designing an HVAC wireless distribution system.

where instantaneous or continuous energy transfer is needed, but interconnecting wires are inconvenient, hazardous, or impossible. While the physics are identical, wireless energy transfer is slightly different from wireless transmission for the purpose of telecommunications (the transferring of information), such as radio, where the signal-to-noise ratio, or the percentage of power received, becomes critical if it is too low to recover the signal successfully. With wireless energy transfer efficiency is the more important parameter. The most common form of wireless power is carried out using i..................[:=> Show Contents <=:]

ling-in blocks of missing data in wireless image transmission is presented in this paper. When compression algorithms such as JPEG are used as part of the wireless transmission process, images are first tiled into blocks of 8 x 8 pixels. When such images are transmitted over fading channels, the effects of noise can destroy entire blocks of the image. Instead of using common retransmission query protocols, we aim to reconstruct the lost data using correlation between the lost block and its neighbors.
