Also, it pollutes the atmosphere and if not degraded properly leads to infectious diseases and release of foul odour. However, most of them are disposed off by burning, which inturn increase carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere which adds on to the global warming. In recent times, it is not put to any other use, other than compost for cultivation of vegetables.
