I designed my Robot, which use two motors control rear wheels and the single front wheel is free. It has 4-infrared sensors on the bottom for detect black tracking tape, when the sensors detected black color, output of comparator, LM324 is low logic and the other the output is high.
Microcontroller AT89C2051 and H-Bridge driver L293D were used to control direction and speed of motor.

A simple DC powered Dual power supply (5v and 10V) usually uses two battery i.e. 6v -4.5A which is serially connected to get the output of 12v DC.

Literature Review
• Embedded systems and robots projects using 8051 microcontroller by Ghoshal book describes four wheeled line follower robot which uses LDR for line sensing. Software is developed using assembly language. This book also describes obstacle detecting robot by using sonar.

Two motors namely right motor and left motor are connected to driver IC (L293D). L293D is interface with µc. Micro-controller sends logic 0 & logic 1 as per the programming to driver IC which moves motors forward or reverse direction.
Basically circuit consist of following blocks:

2) Microcontroller 89V51RD2
3) Driver
4) Motors
