Current state of the art search equipment includes search cameras and listening devices. Search cameras are usually video cameras mounted on some device like a pole that can be inserted into gaps and holes to look for signs of people. For high-rise work in fields such as agriculture, forestry and architecture, and inspired by the climbing motion of inchworms, chimpanzees, and sloths, we have developed a biped climbing robot – Climbot.
